YOGYAKARTA | KBA – The General Election Commission has already declared the president and vice-president elects for the 2024 Presidential Election. Although Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) did not win, the volunteer community is proud to have been part of the supporters of the candidate pair advocating for Change.
Nur Aisyah Haefani, Chairperson of the Indonesian Mothers’ Brotherhood (PMMI), shared her experiences during the 2024 Presidential Election. She felt an incredible spirit. “We are happy and proud to be with people who are sincere, willing, and very militant,” she told KBA News while attending the Syawalan Jarnas Yogyakarta event, Saturday, April 27, 2024.
She believes that Anies’ supporters have a strong determination to realize a better Indonesia. They all do it voluntarily, including digging into their own pockets or contributing to fund promotional activities, creating calendars, banners, and more to campaign for Anies Baswedan.
“We know everyone really did it with sincere dedication. Everyone worked to their maximum capacity,” said this advisor of the Anies Mothers (Manies) Yogyakarta.
Not to mention, traveling far from Yogyakarta to Jakarta for the cause. Like attending the grand campaign of the AMIN pair at JIS, participating in actions at the DPR, the General Election Commission, and even the Constitutional Court. “We rented buses with contributions too. On average, at least two buses per group from Yogyakarta to Jakarta,” she revealed.
She shared one unique experience when announcing the plan for the group to depart from Yogyakarta. “I informed our WhatsApp group of mothers who wanted to go to Jakarta for the action. Turns out that information spread to other groups, so here I was, a mother but also coordinating the departure of fathers to Jakarta,” she said.
Mak Ais, as she is affectionately called, states that although the efforts have not yet yielded results, it doesn’t mean everything is over. “We all know the results; the Constitutional Court has decided, the General Election Commission has confirmed. Our struggle has not succeeded, but we must remain patient in facing reality,” she explained.
She encourages that the spirit of the struggle must continue to burn bright. It would be a pity if the spirit of unity and militancy were simply forgotten.
This means, although the 2024 Presidential Election is over, this camaraderie must continue to be maintained. “Clearly, we are proud to be part of Mr. Anies’ supporters,” she emphasized.
Meanwhile, according to KBA News observations, the Syawalan Jarnas Yogyakarta was attended by representatives from the National Executive Board, regional administrators of Jarnas at the district/city level. Several other leading figures also appeared at the event; such as the Coordinator of FKP3 Central Java-DIY, Retired Air Marshal Firdaus Syamsudin, Chairperson of PMMI Nur Aisyah Haefani, Head of Bakorsi City of Yogyakarta Koestanto, among others.
