JAKARTA | KBA – The NasDem faction in the DPR (House) has confirmed its continued support for the use of the right of inquiry to investigate various allegations of fraud in the 2024 Elections.
Even though they did not voice the importance of this right of inquiry during the 13th Plenary Meeting of the DPR RI Opening Session IV of the 2023-2024 Meeting Year at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, yesterday.
“Just because it wasn’t voiced directly in the Plenary, doesn’t mean NasDem isn’t pushing for the right of inquiry,” clarified NasDem Faction member Sugeng Suparwoto, quoted by KBA News in the broadcast on YouTube channel @METRO TV “Who Seriously Rolls Out the Right of Inquiry?” Wednesday, March 6, 2024.
The Chairman of Commission VII of the DPR RI assured that his party remains committed to the stance taken from the beginning, which is to support the right of inquiry.
Even the General Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, had openly stated this after a meeting with presidential and vice-presidential candidates Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and leaders of PKS and PKB who are part of the Coalition of Change.
“(Surya Paloh) clearly stated that the right of inquiry, which is a constitutional right of the DPR, will be exercised by this coalition and later we in NasDem will definitely take this path,” he emphasized.
However, this NasDem Party DPP Chairman did not deny that they are currently focused on guarding the vote counting process, which requires precision.
Therefore, they will roll out the right of inquiry after the official announcement of the election results by the KPU on March 20, 2024. Hence, Sugeng stressed that proposing the right of inquiry is just a matter of timing.
“After that, we will, even as we often mention, with or without, or even without PDI Perjuangan, take this path of the right of inquiry,” he said.
“Why so? Because from the various events we’ve gone through, both pre-election and during the election process and also post-election, various notes from the society have been incredibly heard. The DPR, with its constitutional right, will accommodate all of that, and we will pour it out later in the inquiry forum,” he continued.
When asked why there were statements about carrying out the right of inquiry with or without PDIP, he assured it was to dispel the impression that NasDem was waiting for PDIP’s official stance.
Considering the presidential candidate endorsed by PDIP, Ganjar Pranowo, was the first to voice the importance of the right of inquiry.
“In fact, we are not (waiting for PDIP),” he firmly stated.
As previously reported, in yesterday’s Plenary Meeting, only representatives from the PKS and PKB factions clearly encouraged the DPR to use the inquiry.
Meanwhile, the PDIP representative indeed urged the DPR to optimize its supervisory function regarding various allegations of election fraud for future election improvements.
However, he opened the option for supervision to be conducted by utilizing the commission’s function, the right of interpellation, or the DPR’s right of inquiry.
Conversely, the Democrat and Gerindra factions firmly rejected the right of inquiry. Meanwhile, four other factions, namely NasDem, PPP, PAN, and Golkar, did not voice their opinion during the Plenary Meeting led by DPR Deputy Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. (kba).
