In the largest proportion of Indonesian voters, the younger generation occupies a strategic part for the development of their country if they want to involve themselves in politics according to the characteristics of the younger generation – including millennials – who are caring, creative and innovative.
JAKARTA | KBA – Presidential Candidate Anies Rasyid Baswedan, Ph.D. January 22, 2023, speaker at the NasDem Youth Festival, inviting the younger generation to be interested in taking part in politics in this country.
“It’s time for us to say we want this city to be better, this province to be better, this country to be better and let’s work together to improve it, agree?” encouraged Anies to ignite the enthusiasm of the participants in the NasDem Youth festival which was held at Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga), Lb. Siliwangi, Bandung, Sunday, (22/1/23).
The presidential candidate promoted by the NasDem Party essentially calls on the younger generation that if they want this country to be better, the only way is for them to involve themselves directly in political activities.
“Why is it important for young people that the power of young people is because of its novelty. If youth does not bring novelty he is no longer young. Young people don’t offer biographies. Young people offer plans for the future,” Anies said in front of thousands of Bandung youths.
The novelty that Anies meant was the ability to see the same phenomenon in a different perspective. Because from the new it allows young people to ask questions that don’t need to be questioned, allows young people to see things that are previously overlooked.
He said that young people are the stock of future leaders. A leader, he continued, is a dreamer who is able to turn ideas into reality.
The doctor graduated from the United States said that politics is a place where decisions are made and decisions made today are implicit, not for the past, implicit for the future.
“Politics is the place where decisions about the future are made. Young people think about the future, politics has consequences for the future. The two must become one unit. So if you see young people offering a future, politics determines the future,” he said.
According to him, young people have a big enough responsibility to determine the direction of the nation. The concern of young people plays a role in determining the future. Moreover, there are many golden generations who are able to carry on the ideals of the nation. Because of that young people must intervene directly in the world of politics.
“It’s time for us to say that we want this city to be better, this province to be better, this country to be better, and we can both intervene to improve, agree?,” he said.
The former Minister of Education and Culture advised young people not to remain silent but want to help move by supporting figures who are pro for the country’s development.
“Change will be able to occur in Indonesia and what we see today will leave a mark on the future. As said earlier today’s decision has an impact on the future.
Political decisions do not have an impact on the past but have an impact on the future. Young people are involved today. Let them make history for a better future for Indonesia,” Anies suggested. (kba)
