Anies Baswedan with the younger generation at Sabuga ITB, Bandung, Sunday 22 January 2023, offers the future, novelty, the ability to see the same phenomenon in a different perspective. Because his newness allows him to ask questions and sees things that are previously overlooked.
JAKARTA | KBA – Applause erupted at Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga), Bandung, West Java, when the host called out the name of the presidential candidate from the Nasdem Party, Anies Baswedan, to appear on stage. At that time, around 2,700 young people from all over Bandung filled the room to take part in the Nasdem Youth Festival (22/1/2022).
In his presentation, Anies invited young people to have the courage to enter politics. According to him, youth must be able to determine their future, considering the role of the youth generation is so important to take part in change.
“Young people offer the future, novelty, the ability to see the same phenomenon in a different perspective. Because his newness allows him to ask questions, see things that were previously overlooked,” said Anies. Applause resounded.
He emphasized that young people have a future, and it is politics that determines that future. Therefore, the concern of young people plays a role in determining the future. Moreover, there are many golden generations who are able to carry on the ideals of the nation.
“We need to encourage young people not only to be involved in responding but also to be involved in the political process itself,” he said.
Anies admitted, the majority of the younger generation who attended the event were considered to have a very big role in bringing about reform in the world of politics. Anies believes that this event can open the eyes of the younger generation so they have the courage to enter politics.
Because, he said, young people have a big responsibility to determine the direction of the nation. Even if he doesn’t want to go directly into politics, he said, he advised youth to support a figure who is pro-change and has concern for the fate of the nation.
“If more Z generations want to become members of the legislature, want to become administrators of political parties, want to be involved in government, there will be a new generation that brings newness, brings new perspectives that will make us more optimistic that our politics will be filled by new children who are competent and have integrity. ,” he said.
The millennials seemed enthusiastic about listening to Anies’ presentation. One of the participants who was so excited was Asep (23 years). This man from Bandung believes that the idea of change offered by Anies can make the nation’s destiny better. “I’m sure Pak Anies can bring change to Indonesia,” he said.
Diana, another festival visitor, admitted that Anies’ thoughts resonated with her, as well as with young people her age. Because of that, he has no doubts about supporting Anies in the upcoming presidential election.
“I will use my right to vote for Pak Anies,” he said.
This youth festival is one of a series of events during Anies’ visit to Bandung. The day before, he attended the Saan Mustafa Cup volleyball competition in Karawang. In the evening, he met dozens of volunteers from all over Greater Bandung at the Newton Hotel, Bandung.
The next day, he started the event with a friendly gathering as well as a congregational dawn prayer at the Islamic Unity Islamic Boarding School, Bandung. The safari activity continued by attending and taking part in a healthy walk with the theme “Steping Together Towards the 2024 Year of Change” at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.
Thousands of people poured in to take part in the healthy walk initiated by the Chairman of the DPW Advisory Council of the West Java Nasdem Party, Mr. Rajiv. Also present at the event were Deputy Chairperson of the Nasdem Party, Mr. Ahmad Ali, Chair of the West Java Nasdem DPW, Mr. Saan Mustopa, Chair of the Nasdem Party DPP Mr. Suyoto, as well as members of the Republic of Indonesia DPR from the NasDem Fraction, including Mr. Sugeng Suparwoto, Mr. Charles Meikyansah, and Mr. Fauzi Amro.

In his remarks, Anies said that this activity was Nasdem’s commitment to work together to bring change to Indonesia.
“Today we gather together to send a message to all of us that West Java is ready to move to bring change to Indonesia,” he said.
Anies said, Bandung is ready to move for a change in Indonesia that is fairer, more equal, and presents social justice for all Indonesian people.
“All Indonesian people must feel the benefits of development in a fair and equal manner,” said Anies.
The history of Bandung as a sea of fire, said Anies, can be an inspiration for Indonesia to keep moving.
“We have to move together. If Bandung has moved, then Indonesia will also move. Not just a position, but how can that position bring change to the people and welfare can be felt by all the people,” he said.
Bandung residents enthusiastically listened to Anies’ message of nationality. Ms. Mirna, one of the healthy walk participants, admitted that she deliberately took part in this activity just to meet Anies.
“So far I’ve only seen it on TV. It turns out handsome, smart again,” he said while blushing.
A young man suddenly approached Anies while on stage. Aurel, his name, came all the way from East Jakarta with his parents just to meet Anies. It turns out that Aurel often follows Anies’ trips in various cities.
“Pak Anies brings joy, his smile is also sweet. Responsible person. I am satisfied with the results of his work in Jakarta,” he said.
Anies expressed his appreciation for what Aurel had done. According to him, the presence of young people like Aurel shows that politics is increasingly loved by young people who care about changing the fate of the nation.
“The new generation also cares about the nation’s future. They choose to be directly involved,” said Anies, with an optimistic face.
